Professional Responsibilities
I have an excellent working relationship with my colleagues and adhere to and contribute to the development of whole-school and departmental policies concerning curriculum, assessment, monitoring and tracking, and pastoral management. I work collaboratively with my Departmental Head, the Head of Elementary and other line managers at regular link and departmental meetings.
I value the professional dialogue I can have with my colleagues concerning cross-curricular issues and am involved in numerous initiatives to include the development of our Literacy and Humanities Curriculum. I am responsible for organising whole year group academic excursions, our yearly NZ visit, developing our Year Book, PTA member for three years, trained teachers on simple website creation to support student learning and the use of iPad’s with the classroom, worked closely with SEN Support as had children with Asbergies and ADHA within my class, responsible for curriculum development including writing and reviewing key policies such as assessment, handwriting, presentation, reading and marking. Helping introduce a new interactive handwriting scheme school wide. Introducing literacy outcomes for whole school.Literacy Assessment Portfolio for all students relating to all areas of literacy. I also successfully utilise the school grounds and local outdoor spaces in teaching and learning of the British Curriculum and trying to make it more inquiry based learning. I also ran or yearly spelling bee, I have liaised with health professionals and the Physical Education department in planning units of work. I liaise regularly with the Art and Mathematics departments in streamlining methods of teaching relating to art and numeracy and data analysis. I have also assisted in promoting trips to careers events and university open days for students in the upper school.
